I think I might be turning into Elton John… a month or so ago I decided I wanted more cut flowers at home. I sometimes buy them from the supermarket if I’m in….however this is really sporadic, relies on my memory and I also am never that enamoured by what the shops have to offer. I usually shop in Aldi and then Waitrose if I need to do a big shop (best of both worlds…get as much as I can at Aldi and then get the ‘lovely stuff’ at Waitrose)…but neither usually impress me with their flowers.
So, I figured surely there’s a service set up to deliver flowers every week or fortnight? After some Internet research, I stumbled across Bloom & Wild. I liked the website, they made it really easy to understand and then order….and so I did! I opted for ‘Bright & Wild’ fortnightly (£16.95 each time). You can choose weekly, fortnightly or monthly and there are three different ‘levels’ of flowers. It’s a nice idea for a gift too.
I’m now on my second delivery and I have to say I’m loving them! The flowers get delivered through your letterbox, so no need to worry about being at home for delivery…
…and they are very well packaged – every flower is individually wrapped to ensure they stay as they should be. They also come with a sachet of flower food to keep them lasting longer. My first set lasted for the full two weeks, so I think going for the fortnightly option was just right.
I really like the notes inside. They tell you what flowers you have this week and give some tips on arrangement.
You can tell them you don’t want lilies if you like. I was actually going to do this because although I think lilies are pretty, they’re poisonous to cats and I hate the smell. I forgot to tell them and so did get some lilies in my first order, but these ones didn’t smell and I took the stamens out as soon as I could, so the cats wouldn’t get them. Here’s an instagram pic of the first set, complete with cat.
…and here’s my second set:
Aren’t they beautiful? I know it’s a bit of an extravagance, but there really make my living room feel lovely and they are definetly a great gift idea. I’m sticking with my flower subscription, I’ll just buy…..erm, less makeup? Yeah, right.
