I’ve finally gotten around to showing you all the Bolongaro Trevor dress that I wore for hairdresser extraordinaire Anthony Fellows‘ wedding. I’m with Anthony and his fab team tomorrow at his hair salon in Mirfield, which reminded me to post some pics of the dress. Ironically, I’d let my fringe grow a little too long before his big day (scandalous to go to a hair expert’s wedding with a bad fringe!), so it did look a bit crazy in these pics (well, to me anyway). I did love how everyone at his wedding had great hair because they all had the famous Anthony Fellows hair extensions!
Onto the dress…some of you may have heard of the designer Bolongaro Trevor before…. hands up if you know who they are? The label was founded by British designers Kait Bolongaro and Stuart Trevor who were the founders and designers behind All Saints. Having spent seven years as Head of Menswear at Reiss, Stuart Trevor founded All Saints in October 1994. Kait Bolongaro joined him in 1996, and they developed the grungy, distressed vibe of All Saints. I’m a big All Saints aficionado (although they can be hit and miss…some seasons I love what they have…some I think “meh”). They sold All Saints in 2005 and launched Bolongaro Trevor in 2006. Their aim was slightly older, more sophisticated and beautifully made.
Bolongaro Trevor collections have a cleaner edge, blending British Victorian with vintage military and contemporary British street style.
The Bolongaro Trevor dress that I wore this particular night I actually bought on eBay and had altered (taken in a little and I created more gathers to give it a better shape). I really love the dress…it’s just my style, a bit Victoriana…bustley. I’ve been trying to stay away from the Bolongaro Trevor shop in Leeds because I’m hankering after one of their parachute dresses…but at £230, I’m thinking I probably shouldn’t at the moment.
I’m wearing some fab chunky gold earrings from Debenhams (featured in this blog post) with the dress…
…and wearing heels from & Other Stories.
Here’s the man himself looking gorgeous (sorry for the slightly blurred photo).
