Brasserie Blanc in Leeds

How had I not been to Brasserie Blanc already?! The French restaurant has been in Leeds for quite a while, but I guess I’d just never got around to it. When they invited me over to try the food and let you all know what I thought, I accepted gladly. I do love French food!

Brasserie Blanc has a lovely busy atmosphere. Bustling and cosy. I liked it a lot.Brasserie Blanc in LeedsWe started with some Blanc de Blancs sparkling French wine. Lovely and light, perfect for a fun evening. J had some Symonds cider…which he loves and was pretty impressed they had it.Sparkling French WineFood Blogger, Digital DivaI’ve been trying not to eat bread as much when I go out for dinner (why do I always fill up on it?!)…but I couldn’t resist the French bread from Brasserie Blanc. It. Was. Heaven.

How do they make such a simple thing like bread soooooo good??Brasserie Blanc in Leeds

I did make sure I didn’t fill up too much though because I was especially looking forward to these baked queen scallops! They didn’t disappoint…they were very tasty and tender.
ScallopsNext up, I had the slow-braised Lincolnshire pig’s cheeks. These came with creamed flageolet beans, Savoy cabbage and crumbed crackling. The pork was very tender, but I wasn’t expecting as many beans. They really overpowered the pork and made it more of a bean casserole which, to me, tasted felt a little bland.
Pork with beansJ had ordered a lot better for his main, he chose the roast barbary duck with blackberry sauce. This was a tender duck breast & leg confit, beautifully cooked dauphinoise potato, pot-roasted carrots, red wine & blackberry sauce. The flavours were really good, I had total food envy!DuckFor dessert, I agreed to share dessert with J as I was pretty full. He chose the crepe suzette (his favourite). It was tasty…but maybe had a bit too much orange peel for my taste (which made it a bit bitter). Crepe Suzette - French FoodCrepe SuzetteBrasserie Blanc is a good solid French restaurant, we really enjoyed ourselves and I’d definitely go again. The scallops were so so good and I’d order J’s duck next time in a heartbeat. I have to say, I do prefer it to Kendall’s. Sorry Kendall’s!

Check out Brasserie Blanc for yourself by booking a table online. They are on Sovereign Street (near KPMG).

Oh wow why have I not been here before?! It looks so lovely and cosy. Those crepes are right up my street too, I’d definitely be ordering them! I know exactly what you mean about trying not to fill up on bread but likewise, a good basket is bread is just too hard to resist!

Your photography is awesome. You could make a McDonald’s look good. But, seriously this place looks and sounds delicious – it’s definitely going onto our ‘must try’ list of restaurants. Thanks for reviewing.
