I’ve loved chilli jam for a long time. I can’t remember when I discovered it, but when I did my bacon sandwiches were revolutionised! That’s right, bacon sandwiches. No tomato ketchup or brown sauce for me, it’s all about the chilli jam!
So, you can imagine how pleased I was when Millies in Leeds offered to give me a jar made by the Chilli Jam Man! I hadn’t tried any by him, but had heard very good things.
What I hadn’t realised was just how many varieties there were! This is a photo of the shelf at Millies:
I chose the Yorkshire Wolds chilli jam, a fairly medium hotness variety.
Chicken Leeds with Chilli Jam
I thought I’d branch out with the chilli jam, I love it in bacon sarnies, so surely I’ll love it in other things. I gave a recipe from the Chill Jam Man’s website called Chicken Leeds. It’s basically chicken, chilli jam and mozzarella wrapped in bacon. I added some roasted vegetables for our meal.
I have to say, I really liked it! Quick, easy and very yummy! My other half, who is VERY picky with his food, really liked it too.
We had it again another night as we had everything in the fridge, expect the mozzarella so we swapped it for Philadelphia garlic and chives. The mozzarella does work better….but we did put more chilli jam in this time and it gave it a better kick.
