I’ve owned a Cloud 9 Straightener for quite a while…the wide irons have been a firm favourite of mine for years, after a few different hairdressers explained to me how much better Cloud 9 were than the usual well-known hair straightener brands out there.
Why are they the best hair straighteners?!
Unlike some of those other brands, they don’t continue to heat up (giving you short term shine and straight-ness at the expense of your lovely locks!). With Cloud 9 straighteners, the heat is totally controllable. This means you don’t have to kill your hair…especially if you’re doing it every day.
It’s not just that they have the ability to control the heat though. They have a MicroComputer controlled heating system, which adjusts the temperature according to the thermal sensor’s calculations. Pretty cool, huh? This is then combined with the Ceramic Heat Element technology found in all Cloud 9 hair styling tools. This ensures a completely even temperature across the entire super-smooth, mineral-infused, ceramic surface.
The lovely people at Cloud 9 thought I should give their original irons a go with a review. These are slimmer than the wide irons. I bought the wide ones when I had much longer hair. Although they are still fantastic, there are a few things that are easier to do with the Cloud 9 Original Irons…especially with shorter hair.
The Cloud 9 Original Irons are easier for doing curls and generally playing about with your hair a bit more.
Fringes (whether they are full or a bit more grown out) are a lot easier with the slimmer straighteners…
…the Cloud 9 Straightener glides through the hair beautifully. Not tugging or pulling at all.
The Original Irons are called just that because they were the brand’s first product (by the way, Cloud 9 was set up by the founders of GHD). This hair straightener comes with temperature controlled, mineral-coated ceramic plates. These keep your hair silky smooth and not fried and dry.
Every hair type is different. Mine, for example, is fine…but there’s lots of it. We all need different heat settings for our hair types and what we’re wanting to achieve that day. With these, you can choose from five different temperatures. I never go above 200 and am often at 175.
The ultra-smooth, mineral-infused ceramic surfaces of the Cloud 9 hair straightener irons allow you to achieve the styling you want at much lower (hair friendly) temperatures. The floating plates on the irons also cushion the impact throughout each section of your hair.
This is all really important to me. As the ends of my hair are bleached, I don’t want to kill my hair through overly heating it up. No-one likes frazzled hair!
Whether or not Zoella is your fave blogger in the world, I’m sure we can all agree that she’s pretty damn good with her hair. She said “They are, by far, the best Straighteners I have ever used” about Cloud 9, which I think is a pretty decent endorsement!
If you’d like to see them in action, this video will play from where I start showing you the Cloud 9 straighteners:
I must say too that the heat-resistant bag is pretty handy for travelling! I’m forever doing my hair and then having to wait until the hair irons have cooled down before I can put them away in my bag. With the bag, you can just stick the in there. That was really useful when we went on holiday recently.
Have you tried the Cloud 9 Straightener? What do you think?
I hope you found this Cloud 9 Straightener review helpful…maybe I’m a bit biased because I’ve owned the wide irons and absolutely love them. But I actually think that makes this review even more honest, I know the brand well and I’m a big fan of it. I’ve had years to compare the damage to hair that some other brands do versus Cloud 9 and I’m totally sold of the benefits of using a lower heat when doing simple hairstyles.
