You might remember that I’m taking part in Frock Swap 2015 with some other fab bloggers. The deal is we all pick an item of clothing and an accessory that we’ve run out of steam with an send it on to the bloggers in our frock swap group. They style the items in their own way and then our items come back to us, hopefully with new ideas for our to style them.
First up for my styling challenges are the items that Char from t*rexes and tiaras sent to me. She sent me a floral dress from the H&M garden range and a black hat from Primark. It’s taken me a while to write this post because at first I felt a bit stumped, the dress isn’t all what I’d usually wear so I was way out of my style comfort zone. That’s the fab thing about frock swap though, we’ve all got our own styles and this brings fresh ideas. Plus, I like a challenge…to push myself to think about styles that are different to ones I’d usually wear.
I finally chose my finished look. Now, if you take a look at Char’s blog you’ll see that she’s got a gorgeous slim figure. I’m a few sizes bigger than her and whilst I think this is a larger size for her, I still could not get my ample, ummm, bosoms into the dress. So, I’m styling it without wearing it.
I figured that you’d wear something like this on a beautiful summer’s day. I chose black leggings that come just below the knee which tie with the black hat (perfect for keeping the sun from your eyes).
For footwear, I’ve chosen some orange suede heels from Carvella/Kurt Geiger. I rarely wear these heels because they are hard to pair with clothes usually…but I do love them dearly. I think they go great with the tunic dress, picking out the small areas of orange in the flowers.
The pink in the dress is a lovely colour, so I chose a Vivienne Westwood small clutch/purse to finish the outfit off. I deliberately didn’t choose any jewellery as I felt the pattern of the dress was enough and I didn’t want to create too much noise to distract from the dress.
I hope Char likes it. What do you think?
