Iberica Restaurant: Spring Menu Tasting

We recently popped into Iberica restaurant in Leeds to try their Spring menu. Myself, James and a few other food bloggers (Jo, Phoebe, Erin and friends) were taken through the menu by Iberica group’s Head Chef, Cesar Garcia…we learnt the inspirations behind the dishes and the process that goes on behind choosing each dish to go onto the menu.

It was all a real delight to be honest, the food was very tasty…from the delicious meats at the start (all available from the deli downstairs), to the very simple but oh-so-tasty asparagus on toast…

…to the amazingly tender hake, to the well-balanced risotto, right through to the ridiculously good Spanish rice pudding…Spanish Rice Pudding…and cheesecake (with parmesan on top, loved that!)Cheesecake - Iberica Leeds

The Red Berries Gazpacho from Mercatbar was a really beautiful dish and the taste matched the aesthetic (this dish is only available till the end of June…I’d recommend getting down to Iberica and trying it!). The only dish that wasn’t really for me was the cauliflower tempura. The texture was lovely and it tasted nice, but maybe wasn’t quite seasoned enough for my palette.

The octopus…I nearly forgot the octopus! I’d really recommend trying that. I’m not usually a fan, but this dish was just lovely. It looked a show stopper too.Octopus at Iberica Restaurant

The dishes were paired with wine from Iberica and each was really really good. Great quality and went down far too well.

If you do get chance to ever eat at in the private dining room upstairs, take it. Don’t get me wrong, the main restaurant is beautiful (the toilets are amazing…not something you usually focus on for a restaurant…but they are!)…but the private dining room is also a looker – I loved the art – playful portraits of people holding various vegetables! Hepper House, the listed building where Iberica is housed is a lovely building…it used to be an auction house and it gives the place a real charm.

Jo, Phoebe and Erin are all great food bloggers and I’d really recommend reading their reviews for the detail of the dishes (I always admit that I’m just a ‘fluffy lifestyle blogger’ who enjoys eating good food and telling you all about it….for the nuances of taste, I will bow to the experts):

I’m looking forward to my next visit to Iberica restaurant in Leeds. The setting is beautiful and the food is great. I’m still dreaming about that cheesecake.

…and the rice pudding.
