Moving House

Regular readers will know that I’m moving house soon. They’ll know because I’ve been talking about how stressed I was in December about it!

The new house in a grade II listed early Victorian house in North Leeds and it’s the type of house I’ve been wanting for a long time. My current house is fantastic, but it’s relatively new, compared to the house we’ve moving into.

I’m after nooks and crannies…I’m after Victorian/Georgian style character and fireplaces. Oooooh…my longing for fireplaces has been with me for a while. Hallways! Another thing I’ve been craving. The new house has delightfully spacious hallways.

I’m a very adaptable person, but I’m also not great with big things in my life changing. I’ve lived in my current house for over twelve years, I bought it with my previous husband…and my second husband and I have done a lot of work to it, so there’s lots of (good) memories here. I’m really going to miss the house, the garden…and the cherry blossom tree that looks gorgeous for all of two weeks of the year!

You’re likely to see lots more interiors content on the blog soon as we get closer to moving in. We’re going to start off with a fairly neutral decor and figure out the rooms after we move in. I’m looking forward to buying some new furniture once I figure out the feel of the rooms, I’ve been stopped myself from buying anything new for a while now.

I guess I don’t want to buy anything just yet too because I won’t believe it’s actually happening until we’re in there. So many things can put spanners in the works of house sales/buys…and I’m a natural worrier. Anything that can wrong I assume will do! So, wish me luck and I’ll start posting about how we get on nearer the time.

So exciting! I’ve got all my fingers crossed for you 🙂 We’re hoping to dip our toes into the house buying thing in the next year or so, and I can only imagine that it will be very stressful! The new house sounds wonderful – I’m totally there with you on the fireplaces. It’s my dream to have one in every room!

Good Luck with your move, I live in a victorian 3 storey terraced and we have very high ceilings and deep skirting boards with a cast iron fireplace in our bedroom, I love old houses too, a bit of a pain when decorating and all the walls are wonky ha ha but lovely all the same, we found some original floor tiles in our porch and when we changed our lounge fireplace but they were too damaged to clean up and showcase, I know they’re there though 🙂 lots of love xxx

Ooh that cast iron fireplace sounds amazing! I think an older house will take a bit if getting used to, but I’m really looking forward to it 🙂 xxx
