Designer bargains – grab yourself a gem in the sales

I do love a designer label…even when I was a teen with little money, I’d press my nose up against the window of Browns in York and lust after all the gorgeous clothes, shoes and bags. We didn’t have the money then to spend on anything like that, so it did feel like another world.

These days, I’m lucky enough to buy myself a few items…but I very rarely pay full price. I’m a total designer bargain hunter and will only buy items I think I will love for a long time…nothing very on-trend, the high street is much better for items you might only keep for a season. Look out for pieces that will have longevity – pieces you can match with lots of other items in our wardrobe. If your size changes, then shoes and bags can be a good option as you won’t grow out of them.

My favourite ways to find designer bargains

My best ways of keeping an eye out are:

  • Dress agencies – buy second-hand, the items are checked for authenticity and you can try on in person
  • Designer outlets – places like the McAurtur Glen are great
  • Online shops – sites like Vestiaire Collective, Hardly Ever Worn It and a few others can have some great items.

It has to be said, I will very rarely buy from eBay, it’s usually more hassle than it’s worth and items are often fake.

Current designer sales

This time of year is great for bagging yourself a nice designer bargain, as all the upmarket stores are having sales. No need to get out of your Christmas PJs either, online is the best way to search in my opinion.

Take a look at Net A Porter, Matches, Flannels, Outnet and Coggles.

I’m going to post my favourites from the top designer sales – so look out for the upcoming blog posts over the next few days.

Oh what I would give to have a wardrobe full of beautiful designer pieces! I have found a few gems in designer outlets though. I got the most stunning Chloe dress for just £25 once! I have yet to find the right occasion for it but I love having it in my wardrobe.
