I recently went to the NEST.co.uk Bloggers Breakfast at their showroom in Sheffield. NEST had invited myself and a few other interiors bloggers over for a cuppa, some delicious cake and a nosey around their gaff.
I’ve always liked NEST, so I was happy to go talk about interior décor and their lovely products for a morning! If you don’t already know about the brand, they basically sell gorgeous stuff for your home. They focus on premium design from key brands and designers such as Tom Dixon, Vitra, HAY, Lee Broom etc. and they sell to architects, interior designers and residential customers.
Toni from NEST, talked us through a little bit about the company’s history. Toni started off as a shop girl and quickly worked her way up to be Marketing & Operations Director. You can see why, really personable and she knew good design. Her passion…and actually the rest of the team’s passion too, really shone through when they were talking to us. They were lovely down to earth people.
NEST.co.uk: A little bit about them
The first shop was established in 2002 in Sheffield and quickly became a firm favourite with design buyers. They now sell from their Sheffield showroom and online (the website is very good – I particularly like the search and tagging features, much more intuitive than the usual type of ecommerce store) with over 15,000 products.
It was really good to hear about a northern retailer doing so well and the team behind NEST were really lovely and incredibly knowledgeable about their products and interior design in general. In fact, they do offer an interior design service too with a free one hour consultation (give them a call if that sounds like that might be useful for you). They pride themselves on giving great service…when they are delivering furniture they have a two man delivery service, put everything together for you and take the packaging away. Handy.
We did have interesting conversations about other interior retailers such as Ikea. They are big fans and they know that Ikea are amazing at getting people interested in home accessories and design. NEST specialise in investment pieces for when you’ve figured out your style and want to take your home to another level. In fact, they are designing their own capsule collection which will be available in Spring 2016. I’ll be interested to see what design direction they go for with that collection. At the moment they are good curators of design, so I’m eager to see what kind of stamp their put on their very own line.
My favourite products
Ashlee from NEST showed us around their most popular products and told us a little about why they liked some of them so much. For the first time ever, I’ve actually taken some video and turned it into a mini-vlog. Here’s me showing you some of my favourite products from NEST:
…and here are some photos, just in case video ain’t your thang.
This sofa is their most popular product…
I *want* this clock
I love copper and concrete.
These Kaleido trays by HAY are lovely…
Beautiful Tom Dixon copper bowls. They are super thin and so with use, they will get slightly bashed out of shape…but that’s the intention.
I like Anglepoise lamps but I’ve never wanted to buy one before, they’ve always maybe felt a bit ‘officey’ for a home. The Paul Smith for Anglepoise lamps were another story for me though. The colours were spot on.
I really liked these colourful geometric dishcloths from HAY. I’m always on the look out for well designed tea towels but have never really found any I like. These are lovely.
So, full of tea and cake, it was time to say goodbye…
Thanks to NEST.co.uk for having us, it was great to spend some time with fellow bloggers and lust over some lovely interiors products for my new house. You can read Anna from Angel In The North’s blog post with some pics too.
