New York, New York!

I’ve just got back from a week’s stay in New York for business meetings. It was both wonderful and very tiring. Up at dawn, followed by 9hr meetings.

We did manage to fit in a bit of tourist activities too though. Last time I went to New York on business, we had 4hrs to fit in some sight seeing, so I pretty much dragged my boss all over the city, I had fast-track tickets to the top of the Empire State, we had a look at Central Park, walked down 5th Avenue etc. etc. – this time, we could be a bit more relaxed.

We were in New Jersey for meetings, went to a fantastic meal to Stanton Social (more on that here: www.digital-diva.co.uk/stanton-social-restaurant-new-york), wandered across to Brooklyn to get a view of New York, shopped in Soho and searched for peanut butter M&M’s near Times Square.

We stayed at the Eventi hotel in mid-town Manhattan, which was very nice. Amazing views from my hotel room (you can see the Empire State in one of the photos below), a handy location and the bed in my room was like a cloud. On the right is a pic of me in my room taking a ‘WIWT’ photo.

Whilst shopping in Soho, I fell in love with a bag from Rag & Bone:

The colour is just what I’ve been looking for, the leather feels amazing and it’s a great size. However, it was $595 and I’m trying very hard to save my pennies as I have a LOT to pay out for this year. So, with my heart well and truly broken by this handbag….we moved on to the MOMA shop. I got my other half a great wallet that’s made out of paper, but it really durable. It’s very thin and looks great.

At this point, my heart broke for a second time when I saw the Issey Miyake bag I’ve been lusting after:

Enough shopping. We decided the best place to find peanut M&M’s was near Times Square at M&M World. Why don’t they make this variety in the UK? It’s all I’m ever asked for when it comes to what to bring back with me. Whilst we were over there, I managed to persuade my boss to go into a cheesy tourist diner. I really wanted a kobe beef burger and some traditional New York cheesecake. It didn’t disappoint.
