Outfit Vlog // My Vlogging Journey

I did my first outfit vlog! Yay! Finally. I haven’t done a lot of fashion & style content on the blog in a little while…in fact, I’ve really moved most of it over to a dedicated fashion blog at Each Others’ – it’s a style blog that I share with my hubby James.

However since starting that fashion blog, we got really busy and haven’t had time to put any more content up after the first few blogs! Argh, aren’t we rubbish? I definitely need to get some more content up on there because it does look like I only wear streetwear! I was definitely in a sweater and jeans phase a few months back.

So, why do an outfit vlog now?

I find it can take a while to get good outfits photos…I’m never happy with the quality of mine, so matter how hard I try (probably because I read blogs like Shot From The Street, so I’m measuring myself against perfection!). I just don’t have a lot of time at the moment. But…video…well, that’s a bit easier! (kinda)  I am getting more into vlogging lately and while I’ve still got a waaaay to go in making my channel consistent, I’m actually really enjoying it!

So, here’s my first fashion vlog. It featured all the outfits that I wore in a week. I tend to mix designer fashion with high street quite a bit…. so, brands included Balmain, French Connection, H&M, Kate Spade, Select, Zadig & Voltaire, Lisa Tucci, Tarte Collections, Paige Denim, Office, Gucci, Marc Jacobs, Tiffany, Oliver Bonas, Mango, M&S, New Look, TopShop and Christian Louboutin.

You also get a bonus haul (I hate the word ‘haul’!!!) from The Outnet (inc. Issa London and Zoe Karssen) & ASOS.

In the outfit vlog I did say that I’d talk about that new camera later. Well, I sent it back. Yep. I’ve been vlogging so far on just my mobile phone (Samsung Galaxy S6) and while it’s been doing a fab job…it’s not cutting it in low light situations (like my dressing room!), so I really needed a better vlogging camera.

I was trying not to spend lots of money, so thought maybe I could get away with a camera that just specialised in video…not in still photos (I’ve got my lovely Fuji X-Pro I for still photos). The guy in Jessops seemed to agree, so I bought a Canon R66. Sadly, the quality of both the video and the audio just wasn’t good enough. It felt very comparable to my phone really…and that’s not going to cut it.

So, I sent it back…and a Canon G7X II is on order. I succumbed.

If you did like the video and fancy seeing more of the outfits I wear, please do subscribe.

The quality of the video in low light will really improve when I get my mitts on the new Canon…and I’m hoping practice makes perfect with this vlogging lark. I need all the encourage I can get, so subscribe and show me a bit of love in the comments will ya?

Thanks all x

I love the vlog! I can agree though, I have just started my fashion blog (www.shoestringchic.co.uk – I hope you don’t mind the cheeky little plug) and I took the first few shots out on holiday and now I’m back in the UK its so much harder but I know that I need to jjst go with it and not compare to anyone else!! xx

Ahhh…comparison is very much our enemy. It’s really hard not to compare I find…but it’s a must if you’re to find your own voice. Keep up the great work with your new blog! 🙂

Aww…thank you! It’s taken me a while to feel brave enough, I must admit. I think it might be another while till I’m totally natural 😀 xx
