Last week, I visited Brooks Brothers at McArthur Glen Designer Outlet in York to take part in a styling challenge. We were asked to pick a white shirt from Brooks Brothers and style it up with other items from the designer shopping mall.
Never being one to shy away from a challenge, I was looking forward to getting a really good quality white shirt (this is one item that has been sorely missing from my wardrobe!) and having some fab shopping time with Emma (The Life Edit). I’ve always admired Emma’s sense of style, so I was looking forward to having a good natter about shopping with her.
The McArthur Glen has long been a fave of mine for picking up designer bargains. I don’t live in York anymore, but it’s still only 30 mins down the road from Leeds and I love going down there to check out what stores like LK Bennett, The Kooples, Armani Exchange and Kurt Geiger have. All fave stores of mine and they always have amazing items at a fraction of the normal price.
I hadn’t shopped in Brooks Brothers before…you can read more about their heritage here (they’re a bit of an American icon and have dressed most of the USA Presidents), but more importantly, you can check out the Brooks Brothers white shirts for yourself at the McArthur Glen in York. The ‘white shirt van’ is there until Sunday. They are on hand to get you into a white shirt that suits your style and figure. Get yourself down there to check out the gorgeous van (scroll down for more photos) and grab some fab bargains.
I chose a men’s shirt from Brooks Brothers which had a great relaxed fit and the material was nice and thick. I say I chose…I actually picked another one, but when I saw this one on Emma, I changed my mind and picked the same! I’ll be sharing the shirt and what I actually picked and what I style it with in the next two posts. I created two looks and I’ll be sharing them with you just as soon as my internet connection on holiday will let me. Here’s a sneak peek of one of the places I got an amazing jacket from:
Josie from Fashion Mumblr was also at the McArthur Glen and was sporting a gorgeous frilled ladies Brooks Brother shirt…here’s Josie in the white shirt van:
You can watch more of how Josie did with her shopping spree here:
Josie and her other half, Charlie (who also blogs at Man About Town), were really lovely. Very genuinely nice people (with bags of charm and style) and I thoroughly enjoyed spending lunch chatting away to them.
Here’s Charlie in his white shirt from the Brooks Brother van (pretty sure he’s wearing the same shirt that Emma and I picked):
Millie Mackintosh was there too and was wearing a lovely plain white ladies shirt. This is Millie next to the Brooks Brothers white shirt van:
Millie had a really great sense of style and we did a good “oooh, I love your shoes” love in with each other (check out those heels above!)
She was enjoying being up in the north because it meant she got to go see her sister for lunch in York. It was fascinating watching Millie have photos taken, that girl knows where the light is…you can tell she’s done it a thousand times.
So…Emma and I had a really fab day with the McArthur Glen team, Josie and Charlie and of course, Millie. We even did a quick segment for Stray FM…I’ll have to check out when that aired and hopefully I didn’t giggle too much!
Watch out for my next two posts showing the looks I created with my white shirt from Brooks Brothers. I’m really happy with all the items I got and had a fab time with the challenge. Thanks McArthur Glen!
