Quite a few of you now know that I’ve gone pink! The blonde balayage is now pink and I have to say that I’m loving it!
I’ve been enjoying playing with my hair colour and style after many years all one dark colour and long. I embraced the short bob last year, finally embraced the balayage trend (it takes me a while to get around to stuff) and up until a few weeks ago, I was sporting a grown out bob, grown out fringe with ‘blonde bits’ (my technical hair description).
I’ve been going blonder and blonder with the balayage with the help of Anthony and his team at Anthony Fellows Salon in Mirfield. They have been using L’Oreal Smart Bond to stop my hair getting damaged and four weeks ago the ends were dyed ice blonde…in preparation for adding colour.
We’d talked about a bright red, but actually went for magenta in the end. I’d actually been wanting something like this since I had my hair chalked three years ago, so was pretty pleased I’d finally got my hair to a place where I could finally have it.
My last question to Anthony was “will it be really bright? that’s what I’d like…” and his reply was “oh yes, it’ll make a statement”.
Ha! He was right and I loved it!
I particularly loved the ombre effect…starting off quite a deep pink at the top and fading to a baby pink at the ends.
Now, everyone know that reds and pinks fade pretty fast, right? So our intention was to re-dye it two weeks after to stop that as much as we could. However, after those two weeks the pink had faded to a fab light peachy dusky pink colour and we really liked it. So, we postponed the re-dye two more weeks and Anthony gave the ends a little blunt tidy-up.
At this point, I took the opportunity to do my usual complaint that my grown out fringe was annoying me. I’d loved it at first, but once it got to that awkward stage, I was struggling the style it and it didn’t feel like me. The photo above is one of those rare days that it behaved.
So, the full blunt fringe is back. I do like the versatility it gives me. At the moment it’s fairly short, but it grows very fast and I love sweeping it to the side to frame my face or having it down fully.
Plus, the husband really likes my fringe. That *might* have worn me down!
Who says you can’t have bold hair colour past the age of thirty, eh?!
What I’ve really loved about this process is the surprise of the colour. You never know quite how your hair will respond to colour or will fade…so I’m liking the nice surprises. I’ll keep you updated about the journey 🙂
