In the Winter months, my daily outfits tend to be comfy…layers to keep me warm and the shoes have got to be easy to walk in. I’m trying as much as possible to keep active at the moment, walking to work when I can…going for a wander in the park near us, but I don’t want to be slipping around on the leaves. I need proper footwear, not dainty heels.
I’m also not the kind of gal that is dedicated to fashion enough to bare a lot of flesh in these cold temperatures. By that, I mean things like the trend for jeans ending high on the leg. It’s a fab look, I love it, I really do! (Lizzy Hadfield does it best IMHO), but I need to be warm and cosy at this time of year. Socks are a must for me. I want to be cosy.
So, between around December and maybe March or April, I tend to live in wedge trainers, skinny jeans and jumpers. It’s my winter uniform.
Yes, my hair is bright pink! Suprise! I got it done on Saturday and these photos were taken on Sunday, so this is the first blog post with the new ‘do’. I’ve been wanting a bold colour for quite a while and I absolutely love the result. I’ll tell you more about the process in another post…back to the outfit…
Moda In Pelle got in touch to see if I’d be interested in working with them on their casual shoes and trainers range, and it seemed like a match made in heaven. I took a look at their website and immediately found quite a few I loved. These Fianntas are so gorgeous, especially the oxblood coloured ones and I liked these Beetrie trainers for the gorgeous Portuguese leather with faux fur lining. What a gorgeous way to glam up plain black trainers!
The hard bit was narrowing down which ones I’d style up. After much deliberation, I went for some grey/metallic hidden wedge trainers which looked really comfy but also gave me a bit of height (I’m 5ft 6 and I always want to be a little taller). I knew they’d go with a lot of my wardrobe and I’d get a lot of wear out of them. They are called Fontro and are made from lovely soft Italian leather. Aren’t they lovely?
I’ve styled them with my favourite black skinny jeans from Warehouse. When I want to be comfy, these are my go-to jeans. They pair with pretty much anything and I just adore them.
I’m into navy blue with black at the moment (pretty sure that’s a style no-no in some people’s eyes, but sod it…I like black and blue together!). I chose a Jigsaw v neck jumper from my wardrobe. It’s lovely and soft, the V is nice and flattering for my size chest, but not too deep. It’s easy to dress up with a chunky statement necklace too…but seen as this outfit was what I’d wear on a daily basis out and about…I only wore a very slim silver chain.
The coat is Diane von Furstenberg. It’s a gorgeous hug of a wrap coat. Don’t I look smug with my lovely coat?
I like the subtle shimmer of the boots. They feel relaxed and are very easy to wear…but they’ve got that touch of glam with the sheen.
I mustn’t forget my bag…pretty sure you’ll all know it by now, it’s been my most used bag for a year or two. It’s a shoulder/crossbody bag by Zadig & Voltaire. Plenty of zips (I love a good zip), just the right size to fit all my rubbish in, but not too big that I try for the kitchen sink. The more room I have, the more I fill.
I’m laughing because I know it’s true…
One of the good reasons I love this DvF coat? (other than it’s mightily fit), it’s got pockets that aren’t sewn up. I never get around to unpicking them and I end up with just space for a finger to get away from the cold outside. Coat makers, stop sewing up pockets!
So, what do you think of the wedge trainers? I love them. Pretty handy, as I chose them…easy to put on (two zips…yay for zips), easy to power-walk to work in…they go with most items in my wardrobe and they give me a little touch of glam shimmer. Wedge trainers FTW. You can buy the Fontros here.
…and with that, I’m off.
…or maybe I’ll stand around and wish I’d ironed the lapel of the coat… 😀
Thanks for reading / looking at lots of pictures of me. Have a fab day x
* Please note that these trainers were gifted to me by Moda In Pelle in exchange for a review/style post. All my opinions, as ever, are all my own.
P.S. I also bought the Beetrie trainers. I couldn’t resist…they’re a bargain in the sale!
